Small sensor size for super fast frame rates

The ToupTek G3M662C is a passively cooled 1.25″ form colour planetary camera incorporating the 2.1 megapixel Sony IMX662 CMOS sensor. The camera communicates via USB3 for high frame rates and has 12 bit ADR. The sensor is especially sensitive to near-infrared frequencies and the Bayer filter is transparent at the infrared end. This makes the camera especially suited to colour planetary astrophotography, or monochrome photography using a Methane or Infrared filter.

The extended version of this camera has a longer waist than the normal version and is designed to find focus inside popular brands’ off-axis guiders.

The IMX662 sensor in the G3M662C is a 1/2.8″ (5.6 x 3.1mm) sensor with 2.9µm pixels. If your telescope has a focal length of less than 300mm, you will be comfortably able to fit the full Moon onto the sensor. It is well suited to imaging the larger planets.

The camera communicates with the computer using a USB3.0 cable (included with the camera) and can achieve up to 107 frames per second. The camera has a native driver, and an ASCOM driver is also included. This means that all popular image acquisition software may be used with the camera. In addition to this, the camera comes with the advanced video and image processing application ToupSky.

The G3M662C can also work as an autoguiding camera, and an ST-4 port and cable are provided, which allows ST-4 guiding.

Large Full Well Capacity Resists Overexposure

Compared to the previous-generation G3M462C, the G3M662C features significantly lower read noise and a larger full well charge capacity. This advancement effectively suppresses image overexposure, especially under low-light conditions, capturing clearer celestial images with dramatically improved image quality.

DDR3 High-Speed Buffer

Equipped with a USB 3.0 high-speed interface and 512MB DDR3 high-speed buffer, this camera significantly reduces amp-glow caused by image data buffering. The advanced buffer system ensures stable and smooth data transmission for uninterrupted imaging sessions.

Zero Amp-Glow Technology

The G3M662C achieves “zero amp-glow” at the hardware level. Whether under long exposure or high gain settings, your resulting images remain pristine and clean, free from unwanted thermal artifacts.

High-Compatibility Front-End Design

Extended Version (CS-mount): Longer front barrel with shorter flange focal distance, ensuring compatibility with OAGs from more brands.

Multi-Mode Flexible Switching

The G3M662C supports HCG (High Conversion Gain), LCG (Low Conversion Gain), and HDR mode switching. Configure these modes freely based on your imaging requirements to optimize dynamic range and noise performance.
