This is a flange used as an adapter between a Moonlite CRL 2.5″ focuser and a Newtonian telescope. It is mounted on the telescope tube and allows the focuser to be removed to be swapped to other telescopes as required.
This is especially useful for a home-made Newtonian housed in a square wooden tube. It can also be used on a truss Newtonian where the focuser does not need to be flush against a round tube.
