Sky-Watcher Evostar 72EDX OTA retains the same high-quality f/5.8 optics as its predecessor, including an ED glass lens to reduce chromatic aberration, but adds a new 2.2″ Rack & Pinion focuser with an indexed drawtube, a built-in 360° rotatable adaptor, a retractable dew shield, and a convenient carrying handle.

Each air-to-glass lens surface is coated with advanced anti-reflection metallic coatings to achieve nearly 99.5% light throughput. Sky-Watcher’s proprietary “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHTC) are among the best in their class. The optics provide crisp, sharp stars against a deep black background, with contrast-rich skies.

For many, Sky-Watcher’s Evostar-ED doublets are a popular choice for astrophotography due to their high performance and affordability. With less glass in their construction, they are typically much lighter than equivalent-aperture triplet or other multi-element ED refractor designs.

An optional optically matched 0.85x Focal Reducer/Field Flattener is also available for astrophotography.

Presented in a fresh white-and-green design, the Evostar 72EDX is a good telescope for both imaging and visual observations when used with the necessary accessories.
