Maximum aperture. Maximum detail. 102mm of hydrogen-alpha performance reveals the Sun at a level smaller telescopes cannot reach
*Mounts and tripods shown are for display purposes only and are not included with Solar Ready packages.
The LS100 brings maximum aperture to hydrogen-alpha solar observation. With 102mm of light-gathering power through a 663mm f/6.5 doublet objective, this telescope reveals solar detail that smaller instruments simply cannot match: finer prominence structure, more subtle filament threading, and greater contrast across active regions. The resolution advantage of 100mm aperture is not incremental. It is transformational.
The internal pressure-tuned etalon features Doppler True Barometric Pressure Tuning, allowing precise bandpass optimization without mechanical tilt that can compromise image quality. The entire 100mm aperture delivers uniform <0.65Ã… bandpass performance. Dial in prominences at the limb, then instantly shift to surface detail with a twist of the pressure knob.
The integrated solar handle with built-in red dot finder transforms setup and transport for a telescope of this size. Carry it securely with one hand while the finder stays permanently aligned and ready. The 8″ Vixen dovetail provides the rail length that 100mm optics demand for proper balance on equatorial and alt-az mounts.
What You’ll See
One hundred and two millimeters of aperture collects more than six times the light of a 40mm instrument. structures that appear as soft textures in smaller scopes break apart into defined, detailed features. Prominences reveal internal threading, knots, and flow dynamics. Filaments show complex multi-strand structure with defined dark cores and sharp edges. Active regions display the full complexity of their magnetic architecture, from large-scale plage structure down to fine penumbral detail. Pressure tuning at this aperture is extraordinary. The chromosphere becomes a three-dimensional landscape you can explore in real time. Shift through the hydrogen-alpha line and watch structures appear, evolve, and recede as you scan different depths of the chromosphere. The 19mm flat-field eyepiece provides approximately 35x magnification for comfortable full-disk views and limb surveys.
Why This Package
If you want the most detail the hydrogen-alpha chromosphere can reveal to a visual observer, aperture is the answer. The LS100 delivers 102mm of it with Doppler True pressure tuning across the entire field. The B1200 blocking filter with 12mm clear aperture provides solid field illumination for visual work, and the 2″ dual-speed focuser with 10:1 fine focus and ZWO EAF compatibility gives you the mechanical precision that 100mm of resolving power demands. The solar handle, 8″ dovetail, and hard case complete a system built for serious, sustained observing.
