The ToupTek G3M290C is a passively cooled 1.25″ form colour planetary camera incorporating the 2 megapixel Sony IMX290 CMOS sensor. The camera communicates via USB3 and has 12 bit ADR. Together, these mean the camera is able to provide 124 frames per second, meaning it is suited to planetary astrophotography using “lucky imaging” for catching details on fast-rotating planets such as Jupiter.
The IMX290 sensor in the G3M290C is a 1/2.8″ (5.57 x 3.13mm) sensor with 2.9µm pixels. This camera is especially suited for planetary or close-up lunar photography.
The camera communicates with the computer using a USB3.0 cable (included with the camera). The camera has a native driver, and an ASCOM driver is also included. This means that all popular image acquisition software may be used with the camera. In addition to this, the camera comes with the advanced video and image processing application ToupSky.
The G3M290C can also work as an autoguiding camera, and an ST-4 port and cable are provided, which allows ST-4 guiding.
