The ToupTek G3M178M is a passively cooled 1.25″ form monochrome solar or planetary camera incorporating the 6.3 megapixel Sony IMX178 CMOS sensor. The camera communicates via USB3 for high frame rates and has 14 bit ADR and is therefore especially suited to video-based solar astrophotography.
The IMX178 sensor in the G3M178M is a 1/1.8″ (7.4 x 5.0mm) sensor with 2.4µm pixels. This camera is especially suited for solar photography, and if your solar telescope has a focal length of 350-400mm (e.g. Lunt 40mm, Lunt 50mm and Coronado PST), this will result in the full disk of the sun being covered by the sensor.
The camera communicates with the computer using a USB3.0 cable (included with the camera), and can achieve up to 60 frames per second. The camera has a native driver, and an ASCOM driver is also included. This means that all popular image acquisition software may be used with the camera. In addition to this, the camera comes with the advanced video and image processing application ToupSky.
Because the G3M178M also works well as an autoguiding camera, an ST-4 port and cable are provided, which allows ST-4 guiding.
