The ToupTek G3M178C is a passively cooled 1.25″ form colour planetary camera incorporating the 6.3 megapixel Sony IMX178 CMOS sensor. The camera communicates via USB3 for high frame rates and has 14 bit ADR and is therefore especially suited to lunar or planetary astrophotography using “lucky imaging”.
The IMX178 sensor in the G3M178C is a 1/1.8″ (7.4 x 5.0mm) sensor with 2.4µm pixels. This camera is especially suited for planetary or lunar photography. If your telescope has a focal length of less than 500mm, you will be able to fit the full Moon being onto the sensor.
The camera communicates with the computer using a USB3.0 cable (included with the camera), and can achieve up to 60 frames per second. The camera has a native driver, and an ASCOM driver is also included. This means that all popular image acquisition software may be used with the camera. In addition to this, the camera comes with the advanced video and image processing application ToupSky.
The G3M178C can also work as an autoguiding camera, and an ST-4 port and cable are provided, which allows ST-4 guiding.
