Antlia LRGB-V Pro Series Filters Overview
Antlia designed the LRGB-V Pro filters specifically for monochrome cameras using CCD or CMOS sensors, including KAF/KAI, Sony IMX, GSENSE, and others. These filters balance the RGB response to match the flux characteristics of red-sensitive CCD sensors, letting you capture 1:1:1 RGB exposures. This approach simplifies post-processing and reduces your overall imaging time.
The LRGB-V Pro series introduces a carefully engineered spectral gap between the red and green channels. This gap cuts down on light pollution while maintaining high transmittance of key wavelengths, so you can capture finer details from faint galaxies and nebulae. The blue and green filters deliver over 95% transmittance of the OIII emission line, bringing out structure and contrast in emission regions.
To address blue channel overexposure and haloing, Antlia narrowed the blue channel’s bandwidth, helping you achieve tighter star profiles. The wide gap between the green and red filters also blocks the 589nm sodium emission line, significantly reducing light pollution from sodium and mercury street lamps. This design gives your images a more natural colour balance.
Antlia ensures uniform substrate thickness across all filters, guaranteeing par-focal performance throughout the set.
Key Features of the LRGB-V Pro Series
-
Premium Coatings & Finely Polished Substrate
Antlia selects highly homogenous glass substrates and applies advanced optical coatings with double-sided precision polishing. This process delivers consistent optical quality and maintains parfocal alignment across the entire filter set. -
Enhanced Colour Balance & Signal-to-Noise Ratio
Antlia deposits dozens of coating layers on each filter, maximising contrast and colour balance across the RGB channels. The anti-reflection coatings and tailored spectral gaps cut stray light and boost the signal-to-noise ratio. -
Minimised Star Halos & Tighter Star Profiles
Antlia designs the filters to minimise halos around bright stars and reduce star bloating. The carefully shaped blue channel transmission curve specifically targets and controls blue star bloating.
Application and Performance:
-
Antlia designed these filters for monochrome CCD and CMOS cameras
-
Capture vivid colours from celestial objects, galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae
-
AR (anti-reflection) film coating reduces secondary reflections and minimises star halos
-
The R-filter maximises transmission of H-alpha and S II emissions
-
B and G filters overlap to double the energy captured in the OIII line
-
Balanced RGB design delivers 1:1:1 exposure times for most telescope optical systems
-
Antlia edge-blackens all LRGB-V Pro filters to eliminate internal reflections from stray light
-
Maintains tight tolerances on substrate thickness across all four LRGB filters
-
Do not use these filters for solar observing or imaging
-
Do not use these filters for visual observation
Important Note: Even with parfocal filters, you may encounter focus shifts between filters during long imaging sessions. Temperature changes affect the optical path length as the telescope tube and glass elements contract at different rates. To maintain sharp focus, check it manually or use software every 1 to 2 hours. If you move your telescope from a warm environment outdoors, check focus more frequently until the equipment stabilises at ambient temperature.
