Sport binoculars bring the action in close. They are commonly used in a stadium, especially when the play is on the other side of the field. You might also use them for stalking your quarry when hunting.
They normally have more magnification than other types, typically 10 times or over. This can make the image shaky if you are holding them in your hand, but this is less of a problem if you’re sitting in a stadium or leaning on a rock or a tree.
Because they aren’t designed to be held all day, sport binoculars can be heavier than more compact types.
